President Kayibanda uses the word genocide for the first time.
During a speech President Kayibanda made an inflammatory statement, threatening genocide against the Tutsi population. He stated that if the Inyenzi, a derogatory term for Tutsi, took control of Kigali, it would lead to "the total and hasty end of the Tutsi race."
