Government officials, dignitaries, families, and friends will remember the over 97,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi buried at Nyanza Genocide Memorial in Kicukiro. Among these victims, over 2,500 were killed by Interahamwe-militia after UN peacekeepers abandoned them. 

The ceremony will be preceded by a walk to remember from ETO Kicukiro to Nyanza-Kicukiro Genocide Memorial.
